The simple fact is that low power UV lamps such
as the ones found in many small room air purifiers are not strong enough to
kill microorganisms. Why? Passing air does not receive enough exposure to
the UV light to have much of any effect. Weak UV lamps do work in microwave
type devices however.
Things like utensils for instance can be exposed to a
weak UV light for several minutes to achieve the desired sanitizing
effect. When you have low UV power, you need long exposure time, simple as
that. The UVMax™ SM2020 on the other hand produces way more UVGI than is
needed in order to achieve a 99% kill rate on the first pass, over 30,000
microwatt's of UVGI per second.
This unit can be used in destroying airborne
contamination while sanitizing equipment and utensils. |
